UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

A Message from the President of

Spiritual Awakening Spiritualist Center

Dear Members and Friends,

I hope everyone is managing to keep cool, and enjoying the sunshine whilst staying hydrated. August tends to be a busy month for ALL. Activities, family vacations etc... It is important that we all take good care of ourselves as well. So, be sure to drink plenty of water, rest when you need to, and spend some time sitting with Spirit and yourself.

Every Tuesday evening, we have a Healing, Meditation and Mediumship Development Open Circle from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. At this service we send prayers of healing for those on the healing list, and for ourselves. We also enjoy a short 8-to-10-minute guided meditation to help center and ground us for the upcoming week. From 7:50pm until 8:30pm we have the mediumship development segment of our service when we give and receive messages from Spirit in a safe and learning environment. If you are interested in any of these areas of spiritual development, please feel free to join us. This meeting is on Zoom only and you will need a link/password to join the meeting. If you are not on our email list but would like to be kept up to date with services and events, please email me to be added at: thechurchofspiritualawakening@msn.com

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Sending Much Love and Joy to you ALL.

Michael

GUIDED MEDITATION: A Haven for Your Mind

In this guided meditation we will help you to create a haven, a sanctuary in your mind.

You can build it and return to it whenever you wish, making it your safe place. Here you can put aside everything that does not serve you, and it will be there whenever you need it.

VOICES FROM THE PAST

Ernest Hemingway once wrote: The hardest lesson I have had to learn as an adult is the relentless need to keep going, no matter how broken I feel inside.

This truth is raw, unfiltered, and painfully universal. Life doesn’t stop when we are exhausted, when our hearts are shattered, or when our spirits feel threadbare. It keeps moving—unyielding, indifferent—demanding that we keep pace. There is no a hit pause button for grief, no intermission for healing, no moment where the world gently steps aside and allows us to mend. Life expects us to carry our burdens in silence, to push forward despite the weight of all we carry inside. And so it is when caring for someone with dementia

The cruelest part? No one really prepares us for this. As children, we are fed stories of resilience wrapped in neat, hopeful endings—tales where pain has purpose and every storm clears to reveal a bright horizon. But adulthood strips away those comforting illusions. It teaches us that survival is rarely poetic. More often than not, it’s about showing up when you’d rather disappear, smiling through pain no one sees, and carrying on despite feeling like you're unraveling from the inside out.

And yet, somehow, we persevere. That’s the quiet miracle of being human. Even when life is relentless, even when hope feels distant, we keep moving. We stumble, we break, we fall to our knees—but we get up. And in doing so, we uncover a strength we never knew we had. We learn to comfort ourselves in the ways we wish others would. We become the voice of reassurance we once searched for. Slowly, we realize that resilience isn’t always about grand acts of bravery; sometimes, it’s just a whisper—“Keep going.”

Yes, it’s exhausting. Yes, it’s unfair. And yes, there are days when the weight of it all feels unbearable. But every small step forward is proof that we haven’t given up. That we are still fighting, still holding on, still refusing to let the darkness consume us. That quiet defiance—choosing to exist, to try, to hope—is the bravest thing we can do.

We dig deep, and deeper still because we care for someone we love.

Keep on keeping on and if you always wanted to be something, be kind.

SPIRITUALISM AND SPIRITUALISTS - What we Believe:

Featured Article Contributed by Rev. Al Potts.

THE THREE "R's"
RESIST - REVENGE - REMORSE

To resist, is to stop the course of something, maybe harmful, to simply oppose it. In this life we are faced with many trials and tribulations which many times take our reactions on a negative track. In order to justify the situation, we make excuses for our actions and often our words. With these thoughts in mind, we sometimes make calculations which are alien to our everyday lives, and we find it hard to compromise. In this unstable world that we live in today, we are faced with constant excuses, cover ups and downright lies. In order for those who are in power to be made to look good. If we champion the inexcusable situation, we then find it hard to justify the situations we find ourselves in. It can be very hard to resist difficult decisions. However, to resist

even when pressured will always be satisfying and can lead to the climax of the negative problem facing so many people today. To resist is to be strong, even when we have been weakened by the problems and we have all been forced to face. Our world today is burdened by those who seek power over mankind, but to resist, can often bring pressures, making life even more difficult. The power of The Spirit helps us to make the right decisions by resisting that which doesn't feel right to us. Power is in the resistance.
One of the most hurtful things to face is revenge from someone who has been proved to be incorrect, and whose intention is to hurt and sometimes destroy us. "Two wrongs don't make a right" as the old saying goes, and so the revengeful situation can cause a fearful reaction, where we constantly look over our shoulder. Within us we have the power to overcome any situation in life if we trust in the power that created us and rely on the guidance from more intelligent minds than our own. We have it all if we take our problems, in sincerity to our God, and ask for help,
and trust that there is nothing that the Divine Mind can't achieve. Don't let revenge take its toll on us, let the Divine essence which we call God, remove that negative force from us.
Sometimes we do something and upset our brothers and sisters in the madness of a difficult moment, and remorse sets in. We then become so ashamed of our outbursts and then find difficulty in rectifying the situation. We become so remorseful that we separate ourselves from those that we have hurt. Let us put remorse behind us and face the problem head on, and that will lead to a more spiritual approach and the mending of a wonderful friendship. Life wasn't meant to be easy on this physical plane. So, when we learn to understand this we leave the three "R's" behind as a lesson well learned.

Rev. Al Potts.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Trust is a belief in the honesty, fairness, or benevolence of another party. It is a key element of social relationships and a foundation for cooperation. Trust is an attitude of expecting good performance from another party, whether in terms of loyalty, goodwill, truth, or promises. The importance of trust as a kind of invisible glue that binds society together is most visible when it is lost.

To build trust in society, you can:

• Value long-term relationships

• Be honest

• Honor your commitments

• Admit when you’re wrong

• Communicate effectively

• Be vulnerable

• Be helpful

• Show people that you care

• Be true to your word and follow through with your actions

• Learn how to communicate effectively with others

• Remind yourself that it takes time to build and earn trust

• Take time to make decisions and think before acting too quickly

• Value the relationships that you have—and don’t take them for granted According to some sources, trust in society can also be improved by increasing government transparency, improving community cooperation and performing individual acts of kindness.
